Best oral presentation at the Young Researchers Forum by Jagoda Obszarska at the NanoTech Poland 2017 in Poznan

Jagoda Obszarska, a visiting student from the Poznan University of Technology (PUT), has been awarded the best oral presentation at the Young Researchers Forum during the NanoTech Poland 2017 International Conference and Exhibition in Poznan, 1st – 3rd June 2017. Jagoda was honored to receive the Prize from Prof. Stefan Jurga, Director of the NanoBioMedical Centre (Poznan, Poland) and the Chair of the conference. The talk was entitled: “Establishing designer properties for poly(urea-siloxane) spheres”. Jagoda presented the synthesis of a new class of crosslinked poly(urea siloxane) micron- and submicron-sized particles through precipitation polymerization in water-acetone mixed solvent with using different amine units. The research aim was to establish designer physical properties of the spheres. She showed how to adjust the synthesis processing parameters to obtain desired spheres’ size, nanoscopic surface morphology and Young’s modulus (elasticity).

Jagoda did her bachelor in chemistry at the PUT in Poland in February 2017. Right after, she joined the MTP group, to work with Hubert Gojzewski and Mark Hempenius, in a frame of the Erasmus Plus Program. She will be back to Poland in July 2017 to continue her master assignment in the Polymer Group (Faculty of Chemical Technology at the PUT), headed by Prof. Ewa Andrzejewska.
